Porcelain Veneers
Dr. Jacob can transform even the most stained, misshaped, and crooked smiles using Lumineers®. Lumineers® are veneers crafted of tooth-colored porcelain custom-designed to cover the front of the tooth, restoring its color and shape. During your first office visit, Dr. Jacob will take impressions of your teeth from which laboratory technicians craft your veneers. Since Lumineers® porcelain veneers do not require shaving of the tooth, their application is essentially pain-free. Lumineers® can even be applied to existing crown or bridgework. Your veneers will be crafted at the Cerinate® Smile Design Studio, the exclusive producer of Lumineers®. In your second visit, Dr. Jacob will lightly scuff the tooth before applying the veneer. The veneer will be applied and set with a laser, resulting in a strong, durable bonding. Your Lumineers® will give you a glamorous smile that will last for years to come.
Teeth Whitening
Dr. Jacob’s practice offers both in-office and at-home teeth whitening. During one-hour in-office whitening treatments, a gel or rubber shield protects the gums while a bleaching agent quickly and effectively whitens the teeth. At-home teeth whitening is another convenient option for many patients. Rembrandt® and Zoom!® at-home whitening treatments contain peroxide in a gel or whitening strip to bleach the tooth enamel. The gel is placed in a mouth guard and worn overnight or twice a day for one to two weeks. Both the in-office and at-home systems are capable of whitening teeth up to eight shades with only a minimal investment of time.
Dental Bonding
Dental bonding is a quick procedure designed to restore the appearance of chipped, cracked, or discolored teeth. A tooth-colored ceramic liquid is used to cover problem areas on the surface of the tooth, restoring the tooth’s color and shape. The surface of the tooth is slightly scuffed to prepare it to bond with the ceramic filling. After bonding, the tooth is shaped to perfection and buffed to a shine. Dental bonding is quick and virtually painless, and it is a less expensive alternative to porcelain veneers.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
Dr. Jacob uses tooth-colored porcelain materials for fillings, inlays, and onlays. Tooth-colored fillings eliminate the aesthetic dilemma and mercury-related health risks of the metallic (amalgam) fillings of the past. They provide a durable, versatile, attractive solution for treating internal and external tooth decay.
Invisalign®
Invisalign® is a tooth-straightening system in which a series of virtually invisible aligners are used to reposition misaligned teeth. The removable aligners gently and gradually guide teeth into their optimal position, causing little or no discomfort in the process. Patients experience little disruption to their lifestyles while wearing Invisalign®, and they are often able to achieve exceptional results in six months to a year. Dr. Jacob offers Invisalign® to clients seeking a discrete but effective way to enhance the beauty and health of their smiles.
Oral Sedation
Dr. Jacob is pleased to offer patients the ease and comfort of oral sedation, which allows patients to remain conscious but relaxed during procedures. Oral sedation produces a significant calming effect while allowing the patient to respond to simple commands during the procedure. Sedation is induced with a pill from the Benzodiazepines group of drugs, including Triazolam (Halcion®) for adults and Medazolan (Versed®) for children. The pill is taken one hour before the appointment, and you should arrange to have someone drive you to and from our office. When you arrive for your appointment, you will be awake but feel very drowsy and relaxed. The calming effect is so pronounced that you will likely not remember being anesthetized once you get to the office. As the sedation wears off after the appointment, you will remain relaxed and free of stress.
